Generation of power and administrative activities of the Norochcholai Power Plant have been entrusted to theCeylon Electricity Board (CEB).
Chairman of the Electricity Board Professor Wimaladharma Abeywickrema said that based on the agreement reached with the company which built the power plant its power generation has been entrusted to the Board. Engineers of the Chinese Company and the Electricity Board are expected to work collectively next month. Thereafter, these operations will be fully tasked with the Engineers of the Electricity Board.
The Norochcholai Plant will add 300 megawatts of power to the national grid. Work on the second stage is set to get off the grounds soon. Its will incur an expenditure of eight billion rupees. 600 megawatts will be generated under this phase.
