The highest number of candidates in Sri Lanka’s history will be sitting the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination this year. Minister Bandula Gunawardena said all arrangements are in place for the conduct of the Examination.
The Minister said 294,800 will be sitting the Examination next month and this will be the highest in the history of the country. He attributed this high number to the freedom granted to the children in the North and East to pursue their studies without any obstacles. The Minister revealed that there are more than 50 thousand candidates sitting this time when compared with the previous years.
The Minister was addressing a news conference in Colombo today. A Pinkama to bless the students who are sitting the Examination will be held at the Kelani Raja Maha Vihare on the 1st of next month at 6.00 p.m. It was revealed that religious observances are also planned to be held in places of Hindu and Catholic worship in parallel to this Pinkama.
