World attention has been drawn to illegal Sri Lankan immigrants. The Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister has discussed the issue with his regional counterparts.
The 18th ASEAN Regional Forum which discussed many issues including disarmament, marine security and criminal acts taking place beyond territorial limits was held in Bali, Indonesia. Special attention was drawn to security in Asia. Minister Professor G.L. Peiris held discussions with his New Zealand, Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, Pakistani and Singaporean counterparts, on the sidelines of this meeting. The Sri Lanka Minister also seized the opportunity of discussing with the Foreign Minister on the experiences gained by the island in regional security and the crackdown on terrorism.
