Civilians of many areas in the Mullaitivu District who were displaced as a result of terrorism are being resettled in their places of origin. 1705 members of 531 families have returned to their villages under the Government’s programme of resettling persons who were rendered homeless due to terrorism. They are original residents of Kembavil and Puthukudiyiruppu. Action was initiated to resettle these families with the completion of the de-mining process and ensuring their safety. Government was providing assistance to improve their living standards. Infrastructure in these areas has been developed. The Resettlement Ministry has provided each family with essential items worth 4500 rupees.
