Channel 4 in a vicious move has fabricated another video in an attempt to tarnish Sri Lanka’s image. It had released this video in its news telecast last night. Senior Attorney Gomin Dayasiri making clarifications on this treacherous video footage said that it has been found that this latest video footage relates to two persons. They present to establish their credibility as witnesses. He queried as to the evidential value of these two witnesses as presented by Channel 4.
The latest video has made an attempt to indicate that it was the Defence Secretary who issued orders to murder terrorist leaders who approached during the final operation to surrender. Images of two individuals said to be members of the security forces with face blurred on screen have been shown recounting atrocities the soldiers had allegedly committed.
Attorney Gomin Dayasiri said this was an extraordinary presentation because they don’t give names. But merely says Fernando and a name never heard in Sri Lanka. However what is shocking is the figures are not displayed. Throughout it is a dubbed voice of a Westerner. But what is worst is they could have put two seconds being an officer in English or at the very least in Sinhala. As such he queried the credibility of the speaker.
At another point in this programme, Channel 4 said that the United Nations had announced that 40 thousand civilians died in these operations.
Mr. Dayasiri said as usual Channel 4 wants to blow themselves by relying on the UN.
The Channel 4 video said that one person acting as a military officer in hiding served as a vampire sucking blood during the final stages of the operation.
Mr. Dayasiri pointed out that what is shocking is that the reliability of one person being able to testify to orders given to all the regiments.
Channel 4 in its programme had also used views of a foreign female Journalist who had been in the country. She had said that terrorist leaders were gearing up to surrender and this had been intimated to the President through a special UN Representative.
A notable feature is that Channel 4 in its latest vicious campaign had been unable to present any acceptable evidence. Its latest attempt had been to denigrate the Defence Secretary and Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN Shavendra Silva.
