Development work related to the Puttalam Highway which links the Northern and Western Provinces has reached the final stage. The Anuradhapura-Puttalam Highway is the main road that links the North with the Colombo District. It has two lanes and is now being carpeted. The Government’s intention is to complete the work within the next two months. The expenditure incurred by the Road Development Authority on this work is five billion rupees. 150 of the 185 kilometres of the Highways has already been developed. Only the stretch between Nochchiyagama and Anuradhapura has to be developed.
