The All Ceylon Health Services Union launched an island wide protest campaign today based on eight demands.
The union launched the island wide union action today by holding a protest outside the Colombo National Hospital at noon.
Head of the union, Gamini Kumarasinghe says the protest would be expanded to areas out ofColomboand the failure of the authorities to address their demands would result in severe trade union action in future.
He said the eight demands include the granting of permanent employment to over 3,000 health workers, payment of uniform allowance and granting of salary increments.
Kumarasinghe said the trade union action is being launched due to the failure of many discussions held with the health authorities.
