Earthlink has bought a small Columbia-based business to help beef up its Web security offerings.
The national company -- with 150,000 business customers and 1.5 million residential customers – announced today that it has bought Business Vitals, a company started in Columbia 10 years ago by Jeff Brewer.
Brewer has been named vice president of IT solutions for Earthlink.
“IT security is probably the No. 1 business issue that business customers increasingly have today,” said Rolla Huff, chairman and CEO of Earthlink, which offers some cloud-based network security products and email security.
“Business Vitals sort of steps up our game a notch by giving us a deeper capability,” Huff said.
