Three teenage boys allegedly bought a revolver, a motorcycle and related accessories, stereo equipment and video game systems with $37,000 stolen from a Chapin home, the Lexington County Sheriffs Department said.
The money was reported stolen July 24 from a home on the 100 block of Midge Creek Court in Chapin, according to the Lexington County Sheriffs Department. The money was inside a lock box.
An investigation led to a 15-year-old boy that used some of the money to buy a .30-caliber Smith & Wesson Airweight revolver, the sheriff reported. The 15-year-olds name has not been released because he is a juvenile. He has been released to his mothers custody after being charged with firs-degree burglary, criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Two 16-year-old boys, Jessie Edward Miller of Wessinger Road, and Devin Michael Sherer of Old Lexington Highway, have been charged withh first-degree burglary and criminal conspiracy. They will be charged as adults, the sheriffs department reported.
Deputies found a Kawasaki Pro Circuit dirt motorcycle, a stand, a motorcycle tire, Motocross goggles, a helmet and pants at Millers home. He allegedly bought the motorcycle and accessories with the stolen money, the sheriffs department said. Investigators also found a 500-watt amplifier, WestC headphones, two XBox video games and an Xbox controller in Millers home and they said he also allegedly bought those items with the stolen money.
