Three men face charges in connection with a break-in late last month at the Pelion Social Club, the Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday.
Charged with second-degree burglary are Mark Lee Hartley, 25, of Doe Trail, Lexington; Brendon Douglas James Lariviere, 17, of Spring Hill Road, Columbia; and James Kyle Stowers, 19, of Cedar Terrace, Columbia. The arrests resulted from a joint investigation between the Sheriff’s Department and the Pelion and Swansea police departments.
Arrest warrants allege that early morning July 26, the suspects broke into the Pelion Social Club at 1030 Highway 178, using a hatchet to break out the glass in the night club’s front door, Sheriff James R. Metts said. Four bottles of liquor and an old glass pickle jar from the bar containing $59 in coins were taken.
The suspects then went to a store with a Coin Star machine, where they exchanged the coins for cash that later was used to buy alcohol, Metts said.
Hartley was released from the Lexington County Detention Center July 31 after posting $75,000 in bond, while Lariviere and Stowers were still in the center Thursday on $95,000 bond each.
