Oconee County woman bitten by rabid skunk

An Oconee woman is being treated after she was bitten by a rabid skunk at her home.
WYFF-TV reported ( http://bit.ly/nLnAFI) the woman was bitten by a skunk that came out from under a car at her home in Long Creek and bit her on the leg.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control reported the animal tested positive for rabies.
DHEC's Sue Ferguson says the woman is getting shots for rabies, which is fatal if it reaches the brain.
Ferguson says about 400 South Carolinians are treated each year for possible exposure to rabies.
