A vacant Hopkins home was destroyed by fire this morning.
Columbia-Richland Fire Service crews were called to 1146 Clarkson Road around 11:30 a.m., fire department spokesman Brick Lewis said. The home that burned was a single-story, 1,100-square-foot unoccupied dwelling behind the main house at that address, Lewis said.
Firefighters arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames, and needed about 30 to 40 minutes to get it under control.
Damages are estimated at $40,000. No one was inside the house and no firefighters were injured, Lewis said.
There was no power supply to the house and the fire is under investigation, he said.
