The government has launched a programme to provide houses for all people who do not own houses in the Anuradhapura district.
Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the programme will be launched simultaneous to the Deyata Kirula exhibition. The Minister said that their aim is to carry out development work worth 20 billion rupees in Anuradhapra District. He said that a discussion was held to decide how the development benefits can be provided to people in Anuradhapura District in the most effective manner. He said that when the President inaugurates the Deyata Kirula exhibithion on 4th February all thatched houses in the Anuradhapura District will be provided a permanent roofing.
The Deyata Kirula national development exhibition will be held in Oya-maduwa in Anuradhapura during next February. The Minister expressed these views when he inspected the construction work in the exhibition premises.
Permanent housing is being provided to the local residents along with the main road development and tank beatification projects simultaneous to the exhibition. Ven. Thanthirimale Chandaratana Thera, Deputy Minister W.B. Ekanayake, Chief Minister of the North Central Province Berty Premalal Dissanayake and Secretary to the Finance Ministry Dr. P. B. Jayasundara participated in the occasion.
