Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has today informed the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) that 19 trade unions at the institution had resorted to union action and that SLT has obtained a court injunction against any strike action.
SLT in a statement to the CSE has said that a court injunction has been taken against strike action by the unions in the premises, damaging company property and intimidating or threatening non-striking workers.
“SLT meanwhile continues to maintain services to our valued customers,” SLT has stated.
According to SLT, the trade unions are engaged in union action despite negotiations with the company with certain concessions being granted.
Meanwhile, the SLT trade unions told a press conference that 95 percent of the SLT staff was engaged in union action and that it would be extended to an island wide strike if the management failed to address the 10 demands put forward by the employees.
