Inspector General of Police N.K. Ilangakoon has said that an era has dawned in which everyone in the country enjoy their due place and can live with dignity. The Police Chief said that everyone should be grateful to the Defence Secretary for the services discharged by him to unite the country that was to be fragmented. Terrorism would have still scourged the country, if not for Gotabhaya Rajapaksa assuming the Defence Secretary Portfolio and Mahinda Rajapaksa taking over as the Head of State of the country. As such he told the students that an era has dawned in which they could receive their due place for their skills and ability. Their future is very clear. He called on the students to pursue their studies and improve their skills.
The Police Chief was speaking at a ceremony organized by his alma Mater the Udagama Maha Vidyalaya in Balangoda
Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa were present on the occasion. A notable feature was the tribute paid by the Tamil community to the Defence Secretary and the Police Chief.
