Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem says that amendments to the civil and criminal procedure code would be presented in parliament shortly.
Hakeem has said the amendments would be aimed at modernizing the country’s legal system.
Speaking at the annual convention of the Sri Lanka Summons and Writ Servers at the Valaichenai Court Complex, the Minister has said that the need to amend certain laws has already been discussed with the Chief Justice and the Judicial Services Commission.
Hakeem has also added that there are problems in administering justice.
He has attributed the delay in hearing cases as the reason for problems in administering justice.
However, he has added that the problems could be overcome with the assistance of judges as well as lawyers.
