The We Are Sri Lankans (WASL) organization that works for the welfare of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) alleges that certain IDP camps lacked the basic facilities.
The WASL organization says that the electricity supply to the Poonthottam camp in Vavuniya has been disconnected for the past three days.
Executive committee member of WASL, Udul Premaratne has said that over 150 families still residing at the Poonthottam camp were facing severe hardships due to the lack of electricity.
He has said that although over two years has passed since the end of the war, the return of IDPs to their homes has been delayed.
Premaratne has pointed out that the delay in IDP families returning to their homes has made it difficult to bring normalcy to their lives.
