A preliminary federal report says a flying boat was doing aerial loops before a crash that killed two people near Charleston last month.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported ( http://bit.ly/oUH4Ns) Thursday the National Transportation Safety Board released a report on the crash off Dewees Island. The craft consists of a rubber raft with an engine and a parasail.
Forty-year-old Lucas Smith and 27-year-old Cara Lee Donohue of Mount Pleasant died in the July 20 crash.
Witnesses told Charleston County Sheriff's deputies the flying boat had performed one loop and was starting another when it flipped over and the wing folded.
It fell about 1,000 to the water.
