The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended a search for a boater who was overdue to return home after it was determined he was safe.
A statement from the Coast Guard Thursday said the wife of 52-year-old Wayne Miller notified the Charleston sector at around 2 p.m. after he had not returned at noon as expected.
Petty Officer Jessica Potter said Miller was not in distress and was not in the water when he was reported overdue.
The statement said Miller departed from the Crazy Sister Marina in Murrells Inlet, Thursday, at 4:30 a.m., on a 16-foot camouflage john boat.
