Apparently, the thunderstorms that rolled through the Midlands sat on downtown Columbia.
The USC rain gauge registered 4.24 inches between 7 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday, and Owens Field got 3.45 inches.
During that same time, the official Columbia rain total at Columbia Metropolitan Airport was only 1.11.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Five Points and Columbia overnight because of the extreme rainfall.
Today's forecast calls for more thunderstorms this afternoon with a high of about 93.
