Oil excavation work will get underway on Sunday.
The excavation work will begin in the sea, 20 kilo metres off Kalpitiya. Oil exploration was carried out in the country in 2001 to 2005 and in 2008. This is the first time when maximum benefits are expected to be achieved. Latest technology will be used to carry out excavations without causing harm to the environment. It has been planned to carry out excavations in the sea at a depth of 800 metres to 1400 metres during a period of four months. The exactions will be carried out by Cairn Lanka Ltd.
