The government is to present a new National Education Policy Bill in parliament shortly.
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said the new Bill would resolve the shortcomings in the education sector.
He has said the new policy would be a permanent one and would ensure that only qualified persons would be appointed to serve in the education sector.
Meanwhile, UNP parliamentarian Buddhika Pathirana has pointed out that a zonal education director in the Matara District did not even have O/Level qualifications.
Gunawardena however has an investigation would be held into the matter.
