The President paid his last respects to the remains of the founder of the Navaloka Group of Companies, late H.K. Dharmadasa.
The President who returned from an official visit to China visited the Dharmadasa residence early this morning and expressed his condolences to the family members of the late Mr. Dharmadasa. The funeral will take place at General Cemetery, Borella this evening.
H. K. Dharmadasa was born at Sultanagoda in Matara. He ventured into business as a small scale businessman and later became one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country. He was known as ‘Nawaloka Mudalali’ amongst the general public. The title of ‘Deshamanya’ was bestowed on him in appreciation of the service rendered by him. As a Sri Lankan he has provided employment to thousands of people in companies of the Nawaloka Group fulfilling an important duty. He is the father of six children, including Upali Dharmadasa and Jayantha Dharmadasa.
