A therapeutic gym will be set up in a hospital for the first time in the country for children with disabilities.
There are around 30,000 child patients living in this country. The Health Ministry has taken measures to set up a therapeutic gym for their treatment them at the lady Ridgeway hospital. The Americares Organisation will provide the necessary funds for the gym which will be built as a part of the physiotherapy department. One million rupees has been estimated as the expenditure. The agreement in this connection was signed at the Health Ministry by Additional Secretary to the Health Ministry Dr. Palitha Mahipala and Sri Lankan Director of Americares, Ramani Perera. The children with neurological defects that can be cured through proper exercise will benefit by this.
