Police say no one can take the law unto themselves

Aug 14, 2011 12:59:21 AM - itnnews.lk

No one can take the law unto their hands due to the narrow

propaganda spread by opportunists.

The Police headquarters has called on the people to inform the Police in case of sighting any suspicious persons. Due to baseless rumours spread in the country regarding ‘grease devils’ some groups have resorted to assault and even murder. No one has the right to take the law unto themselves on such occasions. Strict action will be taken against those who attack people or engage in group violence without making proper inquiries. The Police headquarters has informed the public to contact the nearest Police or call 119 or 118 in case of coming across suspicious persons.
