The Mahanayake Theras have referred to the significant service rendered by the President to the nation, religion and society. They have also referred to the justice done by the President to the country, the people and the Sasana. The Mahanayakes made these references participating in an Almsgiving Pinkama held at the President’s House in Kandy under the patronage of President Rajapaksa. Alms were offered to 1000 members of the Sangha. Monks including Chief Incumbents of Viharea in the Districts of Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya participated in this Pinkama.
The Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter the Most Ven. Udugama Sri Budharakkitha Thera delivering an Anusasana after administering Pansil said that the task discharged by the President to the satisfaction of everyone and setting an example was laudable. He wished full strength and courage to the President to realize his objective of developing the country.
The anunayake of the Malwatte Chapter, the Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera in his Anusasana after the almsgiving emphasized that the members of the Maha Sangha had full respect to the President. He had won the hearts of everyone including the elders, the children, the clergy and the laity. He emphatically mentioned the untiring effort made by the President to develop the country after surmounting the great challenges he had to confront. The Anunayake Thera said the President was really a national hero embedded with great qualities.

Jayaratne, Central Province Governor tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Minister Mervyn Silva, Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake, Parliamentarian Lakshman Wasantha Perera, Presidential Chief of Staff Gamini Senarath, the Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa Pradeep Nilanga Dela and Yoshitha Rajapaksa were present at thios Pinkama.
