Minister Johnston Fernando says cash rewards will be made to persons who provide information on cement hoarders or overpricing stocks. The Minister has requested the public to give information on unscrupulous traders to the Consumer Affairs Authority. He said that the cash rewards would be made from fines imposed on unscrupulous traders. Legal action will be instituted against those attempting to create an artificial shortage or supporting and abetting such persons. The Cooperative has already taken necessary action to import cement. The Minister noted that there is a possibility of purchasing cement from any part of the country sans a dearth.
