The Health Ministry has warned that there is a risk of a sudden increase in the number of dengue patients.
According to the records of the epidemiology Department of the Health Ministry so far 15,614 dengue cases have been recorded from various regions of the country.
Hundred and eighteen of them have died. The highest number of 6136 patients was reported from the Colombo District. Fifty five dengue patients in the Colombo District died. Two thousand three hundred and forty and 836 patients were reported in Gampaha and Kalutara Districts respectively.
The Anti-Malayria Unit said that the Cuban BTI bacteria will be provided to the areas that are facing the highest threat. The Health Ministry has stressed once again that dengue can be prevented by being attentive to the environment.
