The UNP yesterday complained about the importing of sub standard fuel to the country to the Commissioner to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption.
A group of UNP parliamentarians headed by party general secretary Tissa Attanayake lodged the complaint with the Commission.
The complaint would be lodged into the 20,000 tons of fuel imported by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) through the Emirates International Fuel Company in June this year that were confirmed by laboratory tests to be of inferior quality.
The CPC however released a stock to the local market resulting in the break down of many vehicles.
The government ha snow sought compensation from the company that imported the fuel.
