The Higher Education Ministry says it has designed many new degree and diploma courses to suit the demands of the current job market.
The Ministry has said that new degree courses in hotel management are to be introduced to all 15 universities in the country to meet the demands of the hospitality industry.
Meanwhile, diploma courses in nursing, translation and speech and English is to be introduced to the Advanced Technological Institutes (ATIs).
Director General Student Affairs, Keerthi Mawellage has told the media that the courses will be introduced to the new batch of students who have sat the G.C.E. Advanced Levels Examination last year in the Arts stream and are eligible to enter the universities or Advanced Technological Institutes this year.
The new batch of students to the universities and ATIs are to be enrolled within the next three weeks.
