A joint air exercise will be held in the skies of the region with effect from Monday.
The Sri Lanka Air Force said that the joint exercise will be held till Friday. A special media briefing in this connection was held at the Air Force Headquarters under the patronage of Air Force Commander, Air Marshel Harsha Abeywickrama. The exercise that will promote mutual understanding between the countries in the indoor pacific region is being organized by the US Air Force Pacific Air Command. The exercise will promote co-operation amongst the air forces in the region and provide training for instant and speedy intervention during disasters. One stage has been named as Command Post Exercise which focuses on the planning aspect. The Air forces of 20 countries including Australia, India, and the United States participate in the exercise. The second stage will be the Field Training Exercise. Air Forces of five countries participate in this stage which will be held at the Ampara and Ratmalana Air Force bases. It will also consist of a special show of the paratroopers. The Sri Lanka Air Force is providing the required infrastructure.
