An LTTE leader known as Uganda Bala who had been allegedly assisting the LTTE from overseas has been taken into custody.
Information has revealed that he had been hiding in several countries including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand while helping the LTTE. The Malaysian police have deported him due to many charges including his involvement in terrorist activities. He had been taken into custody at the Katunayake Airport while attempting to enter the country. It has come to light that he had been engaged in a racket of arranging safe passage for LTTE cadres to leave the country. The CID said that he is alleged to have earned millions of rupees through this racket.
