The President has handed over 32 new houses constructed for the War heroes who risked their lives to save the country.
The houses were constructed in Galle in the 5th phase of the housing project launched for war heroes with the “Api Wenuwen Api” fund. The President handed over a house built at Kapuhenpola area to Corporal P. B. M. Gunasekera of the 5th Gemunu Watch of the Sri Lanka army, symbolizing the presentation of the houses. The President handed over the keys of houses to the relatives of the departed and missing war heroes at the Nandimithra Maha Vidyalaya in Kapuhenpola, Akmeemana. The Housing Project is being implemented under the guidance of the Secretary to the Defence Ministry, Gotabhaya Rajapakse and the President of the Sewa Wanitha Unit, Ayoma Rajapakse on a concept of President Mahinda Rajapakse. So far 151 houses in a number of districts have been handed over to the war heroes under the “Api Wenuwen Api’ Project. A large number of people including Ministers and Parliamentarians, senior Government Officials and Commanders of the Security Forces participated in the occasion.
