The Sri Lankan rupee has appreciated. According to the Central Bank, the rupee has appreciated 0.96 percent against the Dollar.
The Central Bank attributed this development to the increased foreign investment. Such investments for the first half of this year have reached 413 million US Dollars paving the way for the country to achieve a full year goal of one billion Dollars. Foreign Reserves had also reached an all time high of 8,158 million US Dollars by mid August. The Central Bank is optimistic that inflation would decelerate within the next few months.
