It was a case of bad driving followed by a bungled burglary, according to the Lexington County sheriffs department.
Those factors led to Lexington County deputies surprising two burglary suspects early Monday morning as one suspect was coming out of the burglarized house and the other was standing on the front porch, said Sheriff Jimmy Metts.
Brian Hensley, 26, of 805 Howard St., Columbia, and Riley Sease, 24, of 209 Skylight Drive, West Columbia, were in the county detention center on charges of second-degree burglary awaiting bond hearings.
Metts said that shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, Deputy James Kemfort responded to a burglary in progress call at a home on O-Neal Shealy Road. Once on the scene, he spotted two suspects at the house and arrested them without incident.
The home owner, who used the house for storage, had called the sheriffs department after seeing two men enter the home where they broke glass, slammed doors and shouted profanities, said Metts in a press release.
