President Rajapaksa has emphasized to State Bank Officials the need to go beyond traditional banking methods. The President laid this emphasis when he met with banking officials in a bid to exchange ideas and welcome suggestions in preparation of the 2012 budget. The meeting was held at Temple Trees. Heads of the state banks presented a progress report for the first half of the fiscal year to the President. They expressed their views on the economic progress achieved by them. Discussions dealt at length at this meeting on how the state banks are expected to operate in order to meet the structured changes by 2015. Several Parliamentarians, Ministry Secretaries and Senior Government officials were among those present.
