Residents inJaffnahave today held a protest against the arresting of about 100 persons in the Navanthurai area following a clash between villagers and the army.
The protest was reportedly held outside the Human Rights office inJaffnaby parents and relatives of the persons arrested by the police during the clash.
The protesting family members have called for the release of their loved ones from police custody.
People armed with clubs had taken to the streets a few days back protesting against the “grease devil” who had entered their village.
The angry protestors had been engaged in an argument with the police when several army trucks had arrived at the scene.
The police had made the arrested when the mob had attacked the army trucks.
