A motorcyclist died in a collision on Interstate 26 in Lexington County on Monday night.
The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was riding his motorcycle in the east bound lanes between I-126 and US 378 around 11:56 p.m. when the collision occurred, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.
The motorcycle struck a horse trailer being hauled by a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle driven by Donnie Creech, 67, of Cottageville, Jones said.
Creech was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the incident.
The collision, which remains under investigation, caused the motorcycle and trailer to catch fire and shut down two lanes of the interstate for three hours, Jones said.
