The multi religious clergy has emphasized that no room should be permitted for local and alien forces to destroy the peaceful environment prevailing in the country. They said the time has come for the people to work judiciously.
The Ven. Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera said that there is no doubt that anti state organizations are behind the effort to give a wrong impression on Sri Lanka to the world. Attempts made to take the law into the hands should be foiled. The prelate said as religious leaders they wished to appeal to all citizens to safeguard peace and the law of the country.
Deputy Secretary of the International Hindu Religious Association Kurukkal Brahma Sri Balachandra pointed out that the Government led by President Rajapaksa had ended the war and given an opportunity for the people to live in amity. The Armed Forces will maintain law and order in the country. It is the obligation of the people to support them. Those who cannot bear the development taking place in the country were unleashing such perfidious activities. The Kurukkal said that the onus of the people was to support the Government and the Security Forces to suppress such activities.
Moulavi M.S.M. Thasim Gaffoori, Deputy Secretary of the All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulama Council said everyone wished to live in peace and amity. Local and foreign treacherous forces were attempting to destroy it. Muslims always desire for peace. The President, the Defence Secretary and the Security Forces have enthroned peace in the country. It is the duty and the responsibility of the nation to safeguard it. The forces are there to maintain law an order. He emphasized that the people should take the law into their hands. The Moulavi said what the people should do was to support the forces.
Coordinator of Christian Affairs Rev. Fr. Sarath Hettiarachchi said one time the devil came in disguise as Darusman and another time as Channel Four. Now the devil is attempting to plunge the country into chaos where peace was reigning. Everyone should join hands to contain these devils. Father Hettiarachchi called on the people to support the Government and be cautious on rumour-mongers. He appealed to the people to respect the law.
