Attorney general reviewing complaint against acting head of Patrol

Aug 25, 2011 2:37:00 PM - thestate.com
The state attorney general’s office is reviewing allegations against the interim director of South Carolina’s public safety agency, F. Kenny Lancaster Jr.

Because it is an ongoing investigation, Mark Plowden, a spokesman for the attorney general’s office, would not say Wednesday what information is being reviewed or why.

However, a spokesman for the Department of Public Safety confirmed a complaint against Lancaster had been filed with the agency a few weeks ago. The complaint was referred to the attorney general’s office for review.

A Beaufort County woman told The State on Wednesday that she filed the complaint. In it, Ali Rowell alleges her husband was fired in 2008 from his job as a patrolman with the Highway Patrol, which Lancaster oversees, because she had broken off an affair with Lancaster more than a decade earlier.

Lancaster declined to comment.
