SLT marks yet another year as a lead sponsor of ICASL

Sri Lanka Telecom — the national telecommunication services provider has once again extended its invaluable patronage as a lead sponsor to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL)     strap.

 With a customer base of over five and a half million including multinational corporations, large and small corporate, retail and domestic customers, one of the country’s most valuable blue chip companies, SLT has an annual turnover in excess of Rs. 50 billion. Listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, the company’s market capitalisation as at 31 December 2010 topped Rs. 88 billion.
The national telecommunications service provider’s continuing support to the national accounting body is a strong testament of the confidence SLT has in the ICASL.
CEO of SLT, Greg Young, emphasised that SLT as the national telecommunication service provider has recognised its responsibility towards the community and the continuing need to invest substantially in society.
“And as part of our corporate responsibility towards enhancing economic value created to all our stakeholders in relation to our core functional area, Sri Lanka Telecom is involved in various education related initiatives, to help harness professionalism in the country and our partnership with the ICASL, one of the foremost professional bodies in the country, is also one such initiative,” Young said.
He added that the partnership with the national telecommunication service provider and the national accounting body will enrich the accounting profession in the country while fostering various education and professional opportunities for the youth from the urban to the most rural of areas in Sri Lanka to come up in life.
Welcoming SLT onboard once again, President of the ICASL, Sujeewa Mudalige, expressed his appreciation to SLT for the invaluable support extended to ICASL.
“The support we have received from Sri Lanka Telecom over the years is valued very much and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship in the years to come.” Mudalige said.
