A 32-year-old Charlotte woman died in a Thursday evening collision on Interstate 20 in Kershaw County.
The woman, whose identity was not available Friday morning, was a passenger in a Ford sport utility vehicle that overturned near mile marker 96 around 6 p.m., S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said. Mile marker 96 is about two miles west of Sumter Highway/US 521.
The Ford was being driven west by Kimberly Stowers, 31, of Charlotte, when it veered to the left and struck a bridge. The vehicle then veered to the right and struck the bridge again and overturned.
The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, Jones said.
Stowers was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, as did passengers Robert Stowers, 71, and Cree Stowers, 1.
