Two Orangeburg County men reported being assaulted, one of them shot, by a man who had askem them for gas money.
Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 100 block of Perry Street on Wednesday evening by a person who heard gunfire. Responding officers were flagged down by a car carrying two men, one of them suffering two gunshot wounds. The men were on the way to get medical treatment, the sheriff’s office said.
The victims said they were in their vehicle when a suspect asked them for gas money. They said the man then hit one of them on the head with a gun and shot the other in the abdomen and a leg.
The shooting victim’s wounds were not thought to be life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.
