Minister Basil Rajapaksa has revealed that the Government has set aside more than two Billion Rupees for many development projects in the Ampara District.
The Minister made this revelation addressing the District Coordinating meeting today. It was organized at the Ampara District Secretariat Auditorium. Allocations have been made under the “Divi Neguma” and “Samurdhi” programmes and for the development of many sectors. Highways, Electricity, Water Supply and Irrigation are among the other sectors ear-marked for development. The allocation made for this work is 2,124 million rupees.
Minister Rajapaksa emphasized the need to utilize all grant for the benefit of the people. The meeting was held under the patronage of Chairmen of the Ampara District Committee Minister A.L.A.M. Hisbullah and Parliamentarian Sarath Weerasekara. Political representatives including Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne, Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotalawala and many Government officials were present at this meeting.
