Texas Gov. Rick Perry leads former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among likely S.C. Republican primary voters, according to a new poll from Magellan Strategies.
Perry leads with 31 percent, followed by Romney at 20 percent. U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is third with 14 percent, followed by Atlanta businessman Herman Cain at 9 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 5 percent and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas at 4 percent.
“Other candidate” polled at 4 percent, ahead of former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who both polled at 2 percent.
Nine percent of voters were undecided. The margin of error is 3.88 percent.
The poll was an autodial survey of 637 likely 2012 Republican primary voters in South Carolina.
