The Indigenous Medicines Ministry is to initiate the construction of a new Ayurvedic Medical Centre in Dambana today (27).
The construction work is to commence under the patronage of Indigenous Medicines Minister Salinda Disanayaka and leader of the Veddah community, Uruwarige Wanniyaletto.
The programme is aimed at uplifting the living status of the Veddah community and promoting their traditional medical knowledge and treatment.
The Ayurvedic Medical Center will include a herb collection center where valuable herbs like Aralu, Bulu, Nelli collected by the indigenous people would be purchased.
The project to build an Ayurvedic Medical Center will be assisted by the Culture and Arts Ministry and the National Heritage Ministry.
