The judges who were removed from their positions between 1999 and 2009 met with the President to express their grievances.
A group of judges who were unjustly removed from their positions during the tenure of former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees. It has been revealed that 40 judges with an honorable service record had been unfairly dealt with. The judges pointed out that some even resorted to suicide while there are others who have fallen ill. Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Parliamentarian Janaka Bandara, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge also participated in the occasion.
