The Government is planning to uplift the lives of the people in Batticaloa amidst the development.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that more than 2 billion rupees has been allocated for this purpose. The Minister expressed these views at a District Development Committee meeting held at the Batticaloa District Secretariat. The Minister said that a number of projects have been launched in the district including irrigation, roads and drinking water. The District has been granted 54 million rupees by the one million domestic economic units programme. Five hundred and ninety million rupees has been allocated for 5893 houses completely destroyed by the floods. A large number of people including Ministers, Parliamentarians and Government Officials participated in the occasion.
