President calls on professionals to lead the government on correct path

Aug 28, 2011 11:40:47 AM - itnnews.lk

The President has stated that the professionals should not be confined to voting for the victory of the SLFP alone.

Addressing the members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Professionals Organization he said that it is also the responsibility of the professionals to lead the Government on the proper path. The President said that the professionals should now join the 5 forces of the SLFP. They should discuss with the government, logically presenting their knowledge. The policy of the party should be made more suitable to the country along with the Mahinda Chintana policy. The organization will be strengthened only through this process. That is also the requirement of the government.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed these views while addressing the members of the District Operations Committees of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Professionals Organization held at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies. He said that the Freedom Party set up by uniting the Maha Sangha, indigenous doctors, teachers, farmers and workers has become a strong party today that could form a government. The President pointed out that by following the example set by the late S.W.R.D. Bandaranayake the Party has unified these forces on a more extensive manner to become stronger. Organisers from 8 districts were appointed at the meeting. The members presented a number of proposals and ideas towards the development of the country. The President of the Organisation and Governor of the Western Province Alevi Maulana, Chairman of the District Coordinating Committees Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, General Secretary of SLFP Maitripala Sirisena also addressed the gathering. Ministers, Governors and Chief Ministers were amongst those who participated in the occasion.
