The secretaries of the political parties contesting the forthcoming local government polls are to meet with the Elections Commissioner on Thursday (September 1) to discuss preparations for the elections on October 8.
Election will be held for 23 local government bodies in the final stage of the polls on October 8.
Next Thursday’s meeting would be the first to be held between the secretaries of 25 political parties contesting the election and the Elections Commissioner.
The Elections Commissioner is to brief the party secretaries of the laws to be followed during a period of an election and the action taken against those who violate election laws.
Several independent elections monitors have already claimed that they have received a large number of election law violations that have taken place during the nominations period and before candidates are allocated their numbers.
